Operating Since 1872…
In 1872, a modest 7-acre cemetery was founded adjacent to a wagon trail, nestled against the base of San Francisco Bay’s eastern foothills. Cypress Cemetery became the final resting place for some of the area’s most notable pioneers. While the cemetery has been operating continuously for more than 130 years, it is no longer named Cypress. And it is much larger than it was back in 1872.

Today, Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park is caretaker of that original 7-acre cemetery—and another 54 acres of land and facilities that have been added over time. Our most recent ground expansion occurred in 2004, when we opened our southeast hillside to create burial sites with sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay.

Top Provider in Alameda County…
We now offer complete end-of-life services, with a cemetery, a crematory, two beautiful chapels and an expansive funeral home, that serve approximately 1200 families each year—more than any other funeral facility in Alameda County.

Over the years, we have built several outdoor and indoor mausoleums—and a connected columbarium with indoor niches for cremated remains. Niches for cremated remains are located also in other indoor and outdoor areas, in ground and in walls on the grounds.

Our newest mausoleum, the Circle of Peace, has a unique circular design—the only one of its kind in California. The building has a glass dome that allows views of the surrounding area and lets in light for indoor gardens— including the Atrium of Peace, a cremation garden.

Serving Many Cultures and Groups…
With deep roots in the East Bay’s diverse cultural and ethnic community, we operate a completely multi-denominational facility. We offer a full range of traditional and non-traditional services. We take great pride in satisfying the important religious, cultural and affiliation needs that our client families bring to us— and providing a diversity of familiar and comforting rituals.

With 61 flatland and hillside acres, we have enough space and facilities to do so.
