Featured Project…
Helping to construct a prototype “Learning Garden” at a Sacramento elementary school. The purpose of the garden is to teach children how and where most of our food comes from. The children get involved in planting, watering, harvesting, and in general, caring for the garden. On Saturdays, the children, along with their parents, gather to work in the garden, giving the parents an opportunity to share in their children's learning process. We volunteered after work and on weekends to install a fence and irrigation system. We also helped persuade other businesses in the community to donate materials for the project. The garden gained national attention from the US Department of Agriculture, and has been aired on the California Heartland Television program, on KVIE channel 6 Sacramento and on the Nickelodeon Channel.
